Finally, the platform allows you to curate and play your music collection, via a NAS drive or media server on the same network

File Support and Two Listening Modes

Play-Fi can handle most file types such as MP3, MP4A, AAC, FLAC, WAV and AIFF. It also has two listening modes depending on whether you are using multiroom streaming or not. The highest quality mode is known as “Critical Listening” and maintains the highest possible quality. However, to save bandwidth when using multiroom, you can switch to a mode that is CD quality. You can stream to up to 32 devices with the Play Fi app.

New Power Supply

As with the other components in the 7000 series the 7000N has a new toroidal transformer. This is a low noise high efficiency unit that helps to deliver high signal purity. There are also upgraded smoothing capacitors. The analogue section has separate power feeds.

Colour Display

The Audiolab 7000N has a new colour display, which is unusual on a network player of this price. Notably, this is a large 2.8” unit that shows a large amount of information. Such as the current streaming service as well as track details and format/sampling rate. You can also change the balance and output settings.

Additionally, there are a range of digital filters that can be used to tailor the music to the source material. A fun feature is the VU meter, this can be set to either analogue or digital. It shows real time left and right channel levels. You can also turn the animations on or off.
