For the first time, Astell & Kern have used Hi-Fi grade microchips for its dual Digital-to-analogue converters. These microchips are sought after in Hi-Fi engineering, and produce a liveliness and warmth with a presence greater than that of inferior mobile designed DAC chips. The SR15 aims to give a performance as close to the original intended one, by using the high grade microchips combined with dual DAC, meaning each left and right channel is processed individually. The dual DAC creates a better balanced output, in conjunction with the amp to deliver a clear and coherent audio signal output, free of any interference and distortion.
The SR15 Music Player is capable of playing digital music files up to 24-bit, 192 kHz resolution. For 32-bit files, the Sample Rate Converter performs downsampling, whilst DSD is native up to 64 MHz and DSD 128 MHz is converted to PCM for playback. This high quality of audio resolution available from the Astell & Kern SR15 means that it delivers a more engaging and precise performance of the original music.
The SR15 works in conjunction with a quad core CPU, to produce a responsive and intuitive user interface, removing any distracting elements of noise and distortion. The quad core processor has more power for your digital music, and makes the SR15 faster and easier to use, without distractions. The interface of the SR15 presents a simple and intuitive design, making navigating through your music easy and straightforward.
Through a USB connection, the Astell & Kern SR15 Music Player can be used as a digital music storage device, or a pre-amp for digital audio. The SR15 is capable of transferring DSD in native format, and converts DSD to PCM for output through USB that does not support DSD.
The SR15 has a modern design inspired by interconnected rectangles, and offers good grip from any angle, which hand your hold the device in, without obstructing the display screen.
