Many clamps flatten records successfully but have mixed results on sound quality. Generally, your average heavy weight will pump up the bass but dull down the upper mid-band and majorly limit top-end openness. There is a perceived softening of dynamics (even in the bass), a slowing down of the sound and the decay of notes suffers.

For 25 years or so we’ve tested turntable record weight designs (both ours and 3rd parties) and never came across a weight or clamp which enhanced sound quality without detriment to crucial aspects of the performance. Then one year we were sharing a room at a show with the importer of the Shun Mook record weight. To our astonishment, this actually worked and enhanced everything in the music with no detriment. The only problem was that it cost £2000.

This experience got us thinking, and after some design experiences with previously untested materials, we felt it was worth trying again. This R&D produced the Gravity One.

Building on the success of the Gravity One, we kept experimenting with the design of a record weight. This produced a complete ground-up redesign:  the Gravity Two.

Precision Engineering: Unparalleled Sound

Innovative Outer Cover: Optimal damping is achieved with a specially selected anti-resonant polymer (which for once isn’t Delrin). Structural ridges enhance the rigidity of the casework.
Advanced Internal Construction: The tuned assembly absorbs vibrational energy pumped into the record by the stylus – dissipating it through the vibrational interference of lightweight metallic parts with precision-cut profiles, combined with layers of wood, composites, and polymers.
