Pro-Ject Audio Systems have designed the Vienna Philharmonic Record player, based on the multi award winning model 'The Classic' and fashioned from materials found in musical instruments. The wooden chassis and the finish correspond to a violin, the metal chassis is based on brass instruments, the finger lift comes from a clarinet flap and even the on switch/speed changer comes from a flute button.

For the past 175 years, the Vienna Philharmonic has been inseparably linked with European musical traditions, from the classical to the contemporary. Their performances have gone down in musical history, several masterpieces have been written and they are considered one of the finest orchestras in the world.

The 175 Vienna Philharmonic is supplied with a special edition Ortofon cartridge, based on their top-of-the-line Cadenza series. The housing of the cartridge is made from a very high damping alloy, carefully polished to match the surface of the turntable. The outcome is an extremely harmonious sound, reflecting the goal of this collaboration: to approximate as closely as possible the sound of the world-famous Vienna Philharmonic.

The design team improved every technical detail, and produced the new model according to Pro-Ject’s highest standard of built quality, with the tightest tolerances. Every Vienna Philharmonic Record Player is produced exclusively by hand and will ship in premium boxes made from wood. The accessories are also delivered in an exclusive wooden box.
